Solid Action from Shore to Deep Water fishing report coverpicture

June 18, 2025

Lake Ontario - Monroe, NY Lake Report on 18th Jun, 2025

Fishing on Lake Ontario out of Oswego has been productive this week, with anglers finding consistent bites both inshore and offshore. The lake is warming up nicely, drawing in a mix of salmon, trout, and smallmouth bass. Whether you're trolling the deeper waters or working the shoreline, there's solid opportunity for a successful day on the water. Offshore anglers are seeing strong king salmon activity in 150 to 300 feet of water. Most are hitting on flasher/fly combos and spoons, especially in green and UV patterns. Early mornings have been most productive, with fish holding in the top 60 feet. A few steelhead are also mixed in, cruising higher in the water column and hitting bright orange spoons. Downriggers and divers are both producing well. Closer to shore, brown trout are still hanging around in 20 to 60 feet of water. Trolling stickbaits and spoons along the drop-offs and contour breaks near the harbor has been the ticket. Water clarity and temperature breaks have played a big role—if you find slightly stained water or a temp shift, you’ll likely find fish. Smallmouth bass action has picked up along the rocky shorelines and breakwalls. Anglers casting tubes, ned rigs, and jerkbaits are reporting steady catches, especially during early morning and late afternoon. The Oswego River mouth is also holding bass, and a few bonus walleyes are still showing up. Conditions are shaping up for a strong summer season, so now’s a great time to gear up and get on the water. Stay safe, check the wind forecast, and tight lines from Oswego!
